Your factory 1968-1982 C3 Corvette doors may not be opening and closing properly.  With the constant opening and closing that car doors take, they will eventually become misaligned. From hard-to-close doors to annoying rattling noises from the latch, a loose, misaligned door needs to be addressed.  If you have to slam your door to get it to close, then you need a new door striker.

Installation:

Step 1: Mark the location of your old striker with a grease pencil.

Step 2: Unscrew the old striker and make sure that the area is free from wax and dirt. Replace the pins if they are worn or corroded.

Step 3: Place the new striker on the marked location and screw it loosely.

Step 4: Close your door to check the alignment. Move the striker around with your hammer.  Do this until you determine the ideal position for proper latching of your door.

Step 5: Fully tighten the screws making sure that the striker plate is securely in place.

TIP:  Cleaning debris around the latch and applying lubricant twice a year ensures a longer-lasting door striker.
