Product Details
For Corvette restorers one of the most important safety features your car needs is a wiring system that is in good working order. Years-old wiring that has been spliced, modified, is dry-rotted or in generally poor condition could lead to an untimely breakdown or much worse, a disastrous fire. For safety and functionality, replacing your old wiring harness with a new reproduction harness is a very smart investment. Eckler's offers the very best in reproduction harnesses for your Corvette. Each harness is made with all the wires having the correct gauge and each wire is correctly color coded to match the factory wiring diagram. All the connectors and terminals are identical to the originals. The terminals are dip soldered, where applicable, to limit resistance voltage loss. Hand-assembled in the USA, all wiring harnesses are wrapped with the factory correct non-adhesive or cloth woven tapes, where applicable, to assure a 100% original appearance. Be safe, not sorry with the correct reproduction wiring harness in your restored Corvette.Transistorized Ignitions (TI) also known as Delcotron Transistor Control Magnetic Pulse Ignition Systems were available from the factory under RPO K66 in 1964-1971 both small and big blocks. After, these system could be bought as an over the counter part from your local GM dealership. These special transistor controlled ignition systems where developed for high performance and racing use to replace the traditional point-fired ignition system that came standard on most vehicles. Later to be replaced with the HEI optional distributors in 1975; these transistorized ignition systems were used as the standard duty high performance Chevrolet ignition systems. TI systems work by over coming the common problems with point’s style ignition systems at high RPM. Points systems at higher RPM can bounce unless replaced with high tension point set limiting the rev capability of the motor. Replacing the factory points, high tension points often wore the rubbing guide block at a faster rate resulting in increase dwell and retarded spark. The problem became critical when used on endurance type events such as NASCAR or Trans Am racing, TI systems over came both problems creating a reliable ignition system up to 10,000 RPM or more. To identify if you have a TI system in your car, you will have a “finned” amplifier box and bracket, magnetic pulse distributor and special wiring harness.
