NOTE:  Professional installation recommended.  Bedding-in new pads and rotors should be done carefully and slowly. Rapid heat build up in the brake system can lead to warped rotors and or glazed brake pads. Most brake pad compounds will take up to 300-400 miles to fully develop an even transfer film on the rotors. After installing new pads make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 35 mph with moderate pressure. Make an additional two to three hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph. Do not allow the vehicle to come to a complete stop. When completed with this process, park the vehicle and allow the brakes to cool completely before driving on them again. Do not engage the parking brake until after this cooling process is compete. These calipers are a direct bolt on replacement for 1965-82 Corvettes that utilize all the modern engineering benefits that have made Wilwood calipers the industry standard for 30 years. The calipers start with a forged aluminum body that greatly increases rigidity while reducing the weight compared to a cast iron replacement caliper. The factory cast iron caliper weighs in a 13.2 lbs, and this one is 5.8 lbs. That's a 56% reduction in unsprung weight. They are fitted with stainless steel pistons and sealed by square cut O-rings retained in the bore by a groove in the caliper body. This design offers years of service with no maintenance. The Platinum E-coat finish wipes clean like any painted surface, and won't discolor with heat or sun exposure. The calipers are designed to bolt directly on to the factory mounts using factory pads, rotors, hubs and master cylinder with no modifications. The piston sizes mirror the factory caliper it is replacing, therefore pedal travel and master cylinder function will be unchanged. The factory D8 style pad shape is used in our new calipers making replacement pads widely available. Wilwood's D8 caliper comes with braided stainless brake hoses and their BP-10 compound performance pads. The BP-10 friction material offers the increased friction and a higher heat range of a race pad while maintaining low noise and dust characteristics of a street pad, exemplifying the phrase high performance. Trust Eckler's Corvette for all your C2 and C3 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982 Corvette accessory, restoration, and performance parts needs.
