1953-Corvette-ad

America’s Sensational Sport Car! Creating a sensation everywhere!

The new First Generation Corvette boasted a 160 hp extra-high compression Blue-Flame engine, teamed with the new Powerglide automatic transmission. No V8 for the Corvette, yet!

1955-Corvette-ad

For 1955, you could order your Corvette with the “husky” Blue Flame 6 or the “chain lightning” of the new 195 hp V8.

1958-Corvette-ad

The 1958 model boasted “America has no other cars that can equal Corvette’s footwork…”due to its compact 102 inch wheelbase, “outboard” rear springs, 16:1 steering ratio, and “supple but solid sports car suspension”.

1961-Corvette-ad

By 1961, the “first gen” Corvette was getting near the end of its cycle. The new “ducktail” rear added plenty of flair though. Note the full color ad – early Corvette print ads seemed to be mostly black and white.

1962-Corvette-ad

1962-Corvette-aIn 1962, the Corvette’s V8 283 was enlarged to a 327 and produced 250 hp. A fuel-injected version pumped out a whopping 360 hp, and was by far the fasted C1 Corvette. 1962 wrapped up this generation Corvette, and the second generation cars were on their way!
